Xmen – Days of future past (Archive) *****

Avengers – Age of Ultron
Nothing to do with the comics of the same name which involve time travel and a story more like days of future past, the movie is nonetheless entertaining with one of the highlights being the avengers attempting to lift Thor’s hammer. Not as edge of the seat as the first movie as Ultron does not appear to be as much of a threat, but still entertaining ***½

The Giver
Based on the novel this tells the story of a world free of emotions and one individual being trained to set them free. ***

Attack on Titan – Birth of Levi
Based on the popular character from the show this
shows the beginnings of everyone’s favourite survey corp. *****

The Maze Runner – The Scorch Trials

Surprisingly not boring, but to be honest this is one for the kids, my kids loved it.

Carrying on from the last movie a group of teenagers attempt to escape the clutches of Wicked(see the maze runner)

This is more of the same with effort to enhance the story further. ***

The Theory of Everything.

Eddie Reyman puts in a fantastic performance as the world renowned professor Steven Hawkins, not a boring moment from beginning to end.*****

Gone Girl

Ben Affleck reminds us not to be to worried about that batman v superman movie by showing that he can still pick worth while projects.

But to be honest anything with Mr Finicher at the helm is going to be good.

The story itself is based on the book of the same name surrounding the disappearance of a mans wife and the events leading up to that point, inevitably the husband becomes the prime suspect.

Gone girl is one the best David finicher movies he’s made, not only is he one of the best directors around but in the hands of another director this film might have been in trouble. The story keeps you enthralled, right up until the last scene your still wondering what the final outcome will be.

Unbelievably rosemund pike did not win the Oscar but nonetheless she is the star of this movie and rightly so.*****

Dirty Harry(New)

The beginning of the Dirty Harry series is probably the best, lieutenant Callahan comes across serial killer Scorpio in the first movie of this type.

Every other cop thriller seems to borrow something from this movie and the conclusion is extremely satisfying *****

The Force Awakens – review ( rewatch) – (New)

Now all the hype has died down and every cinema goer has now vowed to never watch another Star Wars movie again after the Last Jedi, it seemed like a good time to rewatch Star Wars Episode 7.

I was worried that I may not like this second time around but this was still a very entertaining movie that could have been longer than the standard lucasfilm 2hrs 15min production.

The story set 30 years after the return of the Jedi takes place with the reminisce of the galactic empire rebuilding their grip on the galaxy in the shape of the first order under the tutorlige of commissioner snokes.

Without giving to much away a storm trooper called Fin, who has deserted the first order, teams up with mysterious Rey and restarts the Star Wars franchise.

My kids loved the last Star Wars movie ( Revenge of the Sith) as did I because of its dark tone, to be honest they could have made this slightly darker but that’s nitpicking.

The problem now is that after watching the last Jedi it seems that

everything suggested in this movie has been wasted.

An entertaining movie only now ruined by the Last Jedi ***
